Samsung already has the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip in its range, but a new rumor suggests that another form factor could be on the way: a Samsung phone that performs much like a Microsoft Surface Duo.
That is according to @folduniverse on Twitter (via SamMobile), and the device has apparently been tentatively named the Galaxy Z Fold S, which makes it sound very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
We haven’t heard of this particular source before, so we wouldn’t put too much weight on the claim just yet, but assuming Samsung is now learning how to produce foldables, it seems plausible that a different form factor appears.

As the Galaxy Z Flip has already demonstrated, Samsung is not afraid to experiment with different types of folding phones, even if that means going head-to-head with a competitor – in that case, the Motorola Razr.

However, unlike the Surface Duo, the rumor is that the new Samsung device will use a single foldable OLED panel, rather than having two separate displays joined together with a hinge. The launch is said to be scheduled for 2021.
Pre-orders are open now for the Surface Duo, with units scheduled to begin shipping next week, though that’s just in the US There’s talk that the Android-powered dual-screen device might not launch internationally until next year. .
