The head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications unit outlined plans to expand its range of foldable smartphones in 2021, one of several plans the company has for the device division.
In a blog, TM Roh stated that Samsung’s goal was to make folding smartphones “more accessible to everyone,” a comment that various media outlets interpreted as an indication that lower prices may be on the way.
Its current folding costs are more than $ 1,300, and the latest addition, the Galaxy Z Fold2, is priced at $ 1,999.
Roh also confirmed reports that Samsung planned to incorporate features from its Galaxy Note line into other devices, although there were no rumors that it was planning to remove the range.
It promised a continued focus on imaging, with plans to add “super-smart, professional-quality camera and video capabilities.”
More details are expected to be released in January 2021, Roh said: Android Authority reported that the vendor planned to launch the device in the middle of the month.
