SINGAPORE – Samsung said on Monday that its next smartphone announcement will take place on January 14, where it is expected to launch the newest versions of its Galaxy flagship phones.
Invitations sent out by the world’s largest smartphone maker said the event will air on Samsung’s website at 10 am ET (11 pm SIN / HK time) next Thursday.
The launch is scheduled for the same week as digital-only CES 2021, the biggest tech fair of the year, where major companies often showcase their new products.
Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant, typically launches its flagship Galaxy devices in February, around or during the Mobile World Congress trade show.
Samsung didn’t reveal much in its invitation to the January 14 event. However, media reports of previous leaks suggest that three phones could be announced: Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra, likely to succeed the company’s S20 devices.
Last year, the South Korean company said its third-quarter earnings were driven in part by sales of smartphones, including the Galaxy Note 20.
