Lei introduced the M11 over the weekend, stating that its ‘light and thin’ packaging was due to the company having decided to stop including a charger.

Like Apple, he said the decision was “in response to the call of technology and environmental protection.”

“Today everyone has a lot of idle chargers, which is a burden for you and for the environment,” Lei said.

“We are well aware that this decision may not be understood or even be the subject of complaints. Is there a better solution between industry practice and environmental protection? ‘

Apple unveiled the new iPhone 12 during a live event on October 13, revealing that the $ 799 smartphone would not come with a charger and EarPods, only a Lightning to USB-C charging cable.

Assuming users didn’t have them yet, those accessories would cost an additional $ 90.

Or they can shell out $ 39 for a MagSafe charger and $ 49.99 for Beats Flex wireless headphones instead.

Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives, said at the event: “Customers already have more than 700 million Lightning headsets, and many customers have switched to a wireless experience.”

Apple announced that it no longer includes a charger and that EarPods with iPhones will reduce more than 2.2 million tons of carbon emissions a year and limit the extraction of rare earth elements.

“There are also more than 2 billion Apple power adapters in the world, and that’s not counting the billions of third-party adapters.”

“We are removing these items from the iPhone case, which reduces carbon emissions and prevents mining and the use of precious materials.”

The tech giant says the decision to remove the two accessories will reduce more than 2.2 million tons of carbon emissions a year.

By Apple’s estimates, this equates to nearly 450,000 cars pulled off the road annually.

But Apple customers were outraged, with many saying that the environmental justification was a lame excuse to hide their desire to charge more for less.

One Twitter user brought up the fact that Apple removed the charger and EarPods to reduce packaging, but is now encouraging people to buy two separate devices, in separate packages.

On Twitter, iPhone users expressed their anger at Apple's decision to stop shipping chargers and EarPods with new phones.

“Pretty soon, they’ll grab your screen and you’ll have to connect one with a dongle,” tweeted another. Anyone on the hype train for a new iPhone is an accomplice. ‘Oh, now it’s 5G capable!’ So are tons of better and cheaper brands. With a charger.

Ben Wood, head of research at CCS Insight, said at the time of the announcement that while it was easy to be skeptical of Apple’s announcement, “the environmental benefits cannot be ignored.”

He wisely predicted that “Apple’s decision likely means that in many cases the days of a charger and headphones included in a new smartphone are over.”

Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement, but it would follow a pattern for the company: According to MacRumor, Samsung dove into Apple in 2016 for removing the headphone jack from the ‌‌iPhone‌‌ 7, but then quickly launched the 2018 Galaxy A8 without headphones. Jack.
