Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Ravel Morrison should have become a £ 100 million player, and suggested that Manchester United’s mistakes played a role in his inability to do so.
Morrison was once an integral member of the Red Devils youth team, which also included Paul Pogba, Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard, and helped them with the FA Youth Cup.
In fact, the game creator was identified by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson as the academy’s prized asset and he was expected to follow in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and David Beckham.
However, a series of off-field problems hampered his progress and the midfielder left Old Trafford in 2012 without making an appearance in the league, joining West Ham where he also failed to reach qualification.

And former United star Ferdinand believes several mistakes were made, both by Morrison and the club, which contributed to his failure to qualify in Manchester.
“I used to tell him to come to my house, but Sir Alex wanted me to stay away from doing things with Ravel because I felt that the club could deal with the situation,” Ferdinand told the Beautiful Game Podcast.
“But this goes back to my previous point about Gavin [Rose, Dulwich Hamlet manager]. If Gavin was at Manchester United back then, I don’t think Ravel slides down the net, I think Ravel becomes a £ 100 million player.
“But there was no one like that at United at the time and even now I don’t see people like that in the clubs. People from the farms, from the streets with similar backgrounds to these players so they can talk to them.”

“I know Ravel was talking to someone [allocated by the club] he was told to take care of him, walking this guy around the park and telling him what he wanted to hear and then going and doing what he wanted to do. because he could get away with it.
“But Gavin is the type of person who would see through him and pick him up immediately to say, ‘Listen, calm down, this is how you should move,’ and that’s it.
“It is a difficult situation, sometimes the home life of these children is different from what you know. Yes, we are all of a property, but once you close the doors, you do not know what happens behind, so you need experience to bring out the best in someone. “
Despite showing glimpses of his talent at West Ham, Morrison failed to maintain a regular starting point and has since had spells in Birmingham, QPR, Cardiff, Lazio, Atlas, Osterund, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.
His career is yet to take off, but Ferdinand believes the 27-year-old has clear world-class ability.
“Ravel’s talent I have always said, I have never seen a child of that age [at] At my age of 14,15 he liked it, it was different, “added Ferdinand.
“Even if you watch his videos now, he sent me some training at Sheffield United. What he was doing to the man was still unpleasant. He was doing crazy things. The game is so easy for him that it’s easy.”
