He may be on his twentieth millionth time in The Office or Extras while locked up, but Ricky Gervais has revealed that he has never seen one of his old shows.

Netflix writer / After Life star said RadioTimes.com that while he is always “very proud” of past projects, he is always eager to move on to new ideas and concepts.

“I’m not letting him go, I’m still very proud of that … but I won’t see him again,” he said of past series. “I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and watched an old series. I saw it 70 times in the issue!

“But I’m still very proud of it, and you learn from it, and you change and evolve.”

Although he has admitted to being tempted to write a third After Life series, none of Gervais’ previous series has lasted more than two series and one special, because, he says, “the exciting thing is to start again.”

“It is very tempting when you reach a winning formula to do 100 episodes, but apart from the money and the ease of doing it, [there’s no reason to]”He explained.” The exciting thing is to start again, that challenge again … and is how to start again.

“People think that if you have a massive and successful series, the second thing you do is the same. It is not, it is worse! People say, “Go on then, let’s see if you can do it twice, I bet you can’t!” That’s the attitude. “

Gervais previously told him RadioTimes.com that he would only do a third season of After Life for Netflix if he were “a real demand encore.”

“I wouldn’t do it for good,” he said. “I wouldn’t do it just to get paid, or because [Netflix] I want another three hours on your platform. It has to be that people really want more.

“It’s a really daunting task, a third series … so you really have to want it.”

The second season of After Life airs now on Netflix. To view the full RadioTimes.com interview with Ricky Gervais, head to facebook.com/radiotimes at 7pm on Friday (May 1) for a live premiere.
