The 2020 Billboard Music Awards, after a month-long delay, finally took place, with Post Malone garnering the most nominations. The ceremony was scheduled for April 29, but was delayed due to concerns with COVID-19.
Held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, Kelly Clarkson hosted the event, marking the third year in a row for the singer. Malone prevailed with a total of 16 nominations, winning nine of them, ahead of Lil Nas X with 13, followed by Billie Eilish and Khalid with 12 each. The most coveted award, Best Artist, went to Post Malone. Kanye West also appeared in a handful of Christian and gospel-related award nominations. Malone, along with Alicia Keys, Maluma, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and Sia, to name a few, performed at the ceremony.
