Capcom rumors Resident Evil 4 Remake reportedly has seen a reboot of development.
As reported by VGC, various sources have indicated that M-Two, the studio currently working on the remake, will see its role significantly reduced, and the change in development will lead to a delay.
Supposedly Capcom Division 1, Capcom’s core team that runs the main line Demonic resident and Devil May Cry games.
VGC goes on to say that sources have reported that the change in development is due to disagreements over the direction of the remake.
M-Two expressed a desire to stay closer to the original squad of Resident Evil 4, after the backlash of 2020 Resident Evil 3Remake received for deviating from the structure of the original PlayStation game.
Capcom is said to have preferred a direction that mirrors that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 took, where the games were inspired by the originals but with their own versions of various elements, reminiscent of how Resident Evil 2 brought the focus to the fore on Mr. X.
The same sources have also said that this reboot will potentially delay the remake until 2023. VGC has said that Capcom declined to comment on these rumors when asked.
Capcom announced the release date of Resident Evil Village this week, confirming that the game will arrive on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
PlayStation 5 players can currently get their hands on Maiden’s exclusive ‘visual demo’ that provides a first-hand look at the mood and aesthetics of Village, and possible images in RE Engine.
