Puyo Puyo Tetris 2’s ‘crazy’ adventure mode detailed

Sega has revealed more information about Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, which arrives on December 8, 2020 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X (and will arrive on PS5 in ‘late 2020’).

Originally introduced in August’s Nintendo Direct Mini, the game’s Adventure mode has now been correctly detailed.

In a surprising move, the game is going in a narrative direction, allowing players to “traverse spaces and dimensions never seen before in a new story, with a colorful cast of cute characters, bringing the power of Tetriminos and Puyos to life. ”.

This will involve navigating from one stage to another along branching routes and optional levels through a new world map, from which you can freely replay stages and chase higher scores and better rewards.

The game, complete with its “wacky story” and “unlockable content,” will also add a few that include Skill Battles, a mode where you can use your preferred playstyle to gain EXP and level up character stats for participate in more difficult battles.

And if that’s not enough to sell you the game, the trailer above opens with Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov telling us how excited he is for the sequel. It’s not nice?

Similar to the first crossover game, you can play Puyo Puyo and Tetris individually or mixed.

Anyone who purchases Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 digitally on Xbox One or PS4 will be able to upgrade their game to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 version at no additional cost.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 will hit consoles later this year and will hit Steam ‘early 2021’.
