Chelsea are ready to send error-prone Kepa on loan after hiring Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as their new first choice.
Stamford Bridge legend Petr Cech, who joined the Blues from the French club, was key in identifying the 28-year-old Senegalese as Chelsea’s new glove.
And although Chelsea insisted that a decision on Kepa’s future has yet to be made, it is understood that Frank Lampard will give his consent for the Spaniard to leave before the deadline next month.
Kepa, 25, has struggled to live up to the world record £ 71 million ($ A128 million) fee Chelsea paid Athletic Bilbao to get him as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois in 2018.

The last term fell out of favor after a series of high-profile mistakes before the lockdown.
And while the Spaniard regained his place at the start of Project Restart, he lost it again to Willy Caballero for the FA Cup semi-final and final.
Chelsea spent much of the summer searching for Mendy and any chance of Arrizabalaga maintaining his position as a first choice evaporated with his performances in the club’s first two Premier League games.
He had a major foul on Brighton’s goal in a 3-1 loss at the Amex before a disastrous error gave Sadio Mane Liverpool’s second goal in Sunday’s win at Bridge.
Mendy, who has signed a five-year contract, said: Mendy said: “I am very excited to join Chelsea.
“It is a dream for me to be part of this exciting team. I can’t wait to get started. “

I COULD GO?
Dayot Upamecano has opened the door to a possible signing for Manchester United.
The Frenchman claimed that he is fully focused on RB Leipzig, but admitted that a lot can change in one season.
The 21-year-old played for Leipzig last season as they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
United reportedly increased their interest in Upamecano after being humiliated 3-1 by Crystal Palace.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper appeared to have decided his future in Germany after signing a contract extension until 2023 in January.
The new France International deal is understood to have a £ 53 million release clause, but that it will only go into effect next summer.
In an interview with Telefoot, Upamecano said that his future is currently in Leipzig, although he did not rule out moving.
He said: “At the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to argue with certain clubs.
“As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and will continue to play in Leipzig. And then we will see.
“You never know what can happen in a football season.”
United have been linked to Barcelona star Ousmane Dembélé as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.
And Upamecano admitted that he would relish the opportunity to re-bond with his close friend.
He said: “Would I like to play with Ousmane Dembele again? I would like that, why not?
“Ousmane is a very good player and we have grown together. So of course I would like to play with him one day. “

PROBABLY NOT?
Slaven Bilic is considering signing forward Emmanuel Adebayor if he doesn’t land a much-needed hitman in the transfer window.
The West Brom manager has had conversations with people related to the former Arsenal star, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham, who is desperate for one last chance in the Premier League.
The 36-year-old Togo-born forward ended his six-month association with Paraguayan club Olimpia in July, mainly due to problems caused by the coronavirus crisis.
But he has kept fit by training twice a day at his home in Ghana and insists he still has a lot to offer.
Bilic has had discussions about the possibility of incorporating Adebayor, who has a great ambition to score three more goals in the Premier League to take his account to a century.
The West Brom boss knows Adebayor could be an alternative if he fails to bring in a hitman because he is a free agent and can be booked after the transfer window closes.
The Baggies have failed to score in their first two Premier League games and Bilic is well aware of their lack of firepower.
The Turkish Fenerbahce is also aware of Adebayor’s availability and there has also been interest from Italy.
