Sony’s PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12, ushering in a new era of gaming alongside the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

The power of new console hardware, such as the PlayStation 5, allows developers to push the limits of what is possible in their games even further. Sony says the PS5 will eventually be capable of 8K resolution graphics, and the console’s new solid-state hard drive allows for faster loads and much larger game worlds than was previously possible.

In the past, creating games to use the force of a new console generally meant leaving its predecessor behind, but both Sony and Microsoft have committed to providing continued support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively. The PS4 is the current generation’s best-selling console with over 100 million sold, and many of the hit games planned for PlayStation 5 through 2021 will also be available to PS4 owners.

This year’s top-grossing games, such as “Cyberpunk 2077,” “Marvel’s Avengers,” “NBA 2K21,” and “Watch Dogs Legion,” will be available first on PS4, but the PS5 versions will receive significant graphical enhancements and other enhancements. Similarly, some of Sony’s upcoming PlayStation exclusives will still be playable on PS4, such as “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” and “Horizon Forbidden West.”

We’ve ranked the games that have been announced for PlayStation 5 below, starting with the PlayStation exclusives. There are games that are now available for PlayStation 4 or that will be released before the end of the year that will receive visual updates for the PS5, but we want to focus on the newly released titles. Some of these games will also be released on PC, and some will be available on Xbox after a period of exclusivity.
