So you have managed to The Hunger Games, your way to a PlayStation 5 pre-order. Congratulations! You’ll get a PS5 on November 12, when Sony launches its next-gen console. But what games will you actually play? Sony recently announced giant titles like God of War: Ragnarok, Final Fantasy 16and Horizon Forbidden West. But those games are for 2021 and beyond (probably much, much beyond in the case of Final Fantasy 16).

Below are the games you will be able to play on November 12.

Note: Not included in this list is Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which will be released during the PS5 “launch window”.

Demon souls

Bluepoint games

Super difficult action adventure games are now described as “like Dark Souls but”. Demon’s Souls was the precursor to Dark Souls, released by From Software in 2009, two years before the studio went big with Dark Souls. Demon’s Souls is now being remade exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Sleepless

Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been compared to Uncharted: Lost Legacy. That game was an expansion for Uncharted 4 – at roughly 7 hours, it was somewhere between DLC and a full-blown spinoff title. And he ruled totally. Miles Morales promises to be that for Spider-Man 2018, and will be released on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Sackboy: a great adventure

Sony

Sackboy: A Big Adventure takes the hero of LittleBigPlanet and brings him a more traditional 3D platformer. Developed by Sumo Digital, the team behind LittleBigPlanet 3 and Forza Horizon 2, this game will be worth playing if it has half the charm of LittleBigPlanet.

Godfall

and

Gearbox Games

Godfall is a new IP and it looks twisted. Set in a fantasy world and published by Gearbox, which develops the Borderlands series, it is an action role-playing game that puts you in command of one of the last members of the elite Knights Order. We still don’t know much about the game or its history, but it seems like it has a lot of potential.

Astro Game Room

maxresdefault

Sony

Astro’s Playroom is a fun platform game that comes loaded on all PS5 consoles. It’s essentially a technical demo that will show you what the PlayStation 5 hardware is capable of, both the console itself and the DualSense controller. But the “tech demo” may be understating its price, as its predecessor, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, is highly regarded.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes you to 873AD, when the Vikings began to expand to England and Europe. It will launch on November 10 on all other consoles, and the PlayStation 5 version will launch alongside the console on November 12.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

V, Nero and our old friend Dante.

Capcom

Devil May Cry V Special Edition takes Capcom’s excellent 2019 action game and adds a ton of technical improvements. It supports ray tracing and can be played up to 120 frames per second. Most importantly, you can also play as Virgil, the sinister brother of Dante’s main character. It will be available digitally for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Fortnite

Epic games

Fortnite is coming to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Epic Games says the game will be optimized for release on next-gen hardware, and next year it will migrate from Unreal Engine 4, the architecture it is currently built on, to Unreal Engine. 5 sometime next year. That’s where the big changes will come.

Observer: System Redux

maxresdefault-1

Observer was a 2017 PC game set in post-apocalyptic Krakow. You play as Daniel Lazarski, a mind-hacking “Observer,” essentially a cop with mind-reading technology, and you spend the game investigating a heartbreaking Krakow slum. It’s an intense horror experience, but one you’ll remember for a long time. Observer: System Redux is a remastered version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War

Activision

Well, technically this is not a launch game. But it’s close enough: Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War hits PlayStation 5 on November 13, a day after the console’s launch. That’s the same day it launches on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
