Japanese software giant Bandai Namco has thrown the gauntlet on Niantic and its augmented reality game Pokemon Go. The main hero of this duel is a great legend in the world of video games: Pac-Man. The pellet eater turns 40 this year and Bandai Namco will honor this anniversary by bringing the Pac-Man experience to the streets. The game in question is called Pac-Man Geo and it will have you running for those pellets around real blocks and neighborhoods. The game is expected to launch sometime this fall, and players from iOS and Android can pre-register right now. There is no actual press information on the game at this time other than the official description found on the Google Play Store.
PAC-MAN GEO will allow players to experience the real world as the yellow boy in this geographic information game. New York, Paris, Tokyo … create a PAC-MAN maze by choosing from a variety of real-world streets. Get the highest score on unique real world streets and collect landmarks of famous places around the world, even from the comfort of home.
It’s worth mentioning that the world has not been spared from the COVID-19 disease, and the potential lockdowns this fall may greatly interfere with Bandai Namco’s plans to give Pokémon Go a run for its money.
