Speaking to Us Weekly about the audition process for the Netflix show, Rudy said: “The first chemistry read, I was John B … I actually read Rafe, JJ, and John B. in two weeks. They weren’t unsure of which character and they took me to Charleston saying, “You’ll be one of these characters, but I didn’t know which one.”

He then explained, “The last audition I did in Los Angeles was John B., so I flew to Charleston thinking, ‘Okay, they want me like John B.'” However, things did not go as planned. “I basically screwed up John B. and thought, ‘Okay, I can come in as JJ!’. They sent me three new scenes and I was a little stressed.

However, he later met Chase and Jonathan Daviss (Pope) and it all fell into place. “When I met Chase, the next chemistry read, it was crazy because I even saw him … JD, the guy who plays Pope, helped me find JJ the day before and brought the version of JJ that is in the program today, thanks to JD. “

Rudy added: “I really relate to [JJ] and his arc through the show is much deeper. The show follows John B. so much you can’t really guess [what he’s doing]. JJ, you glimpse things you didn’t notice were there and then they reveal themselves. “

As for what we can expect from JJ in Season 2, Rudy said: “The Pogues are not the Pogues at first. They are struggling to find that chemistry. JJ is doing their thing, Kiara and Pope are doing their thing., And they have to get back together when they discover that John B. is alive. We have to unite and prove that John B. is innocent. “

What you think? Would Rudy have played John B. well?
