Today there is another OnePlus 8T leak, and this time there is a rendering of what the next Android phone will look like, as well as the most important specs.
However, this new OnePlus leak is different from the recent release of the 8T and 8T Pro, which was apparently confirmed by the OnePlus website. The source, PriceBaba in collaboration with a trusted filter @Onleaks, suggests that a Pro version will not come, which contradicts what we heard just a few hours ago.
We’ll note that at least one rumor previously questioned the existence of the higher-spec OnePlus 8T Pro. Our theory? It may depend on availability, and the Pro will only reach certain regions. This wouldn’t be the first time OnePlus has done this (the OnePlus 7T Pro didn’t immediately launch in the US).
The leak goes on to say that the OnePlus 8T will have a 6.55-inch 120Hz display, which is the same size as the OnePlus 8 but with a faster refresh rate.
The included rendering suggests that the display will be flat to the edges, not curved like the OnePlus 8 models were. It’s a curious design downgrade, given that the OnePlus 8T is meant to be an upgraded version of the OnePlus 8.
The unexpected design tweaks extend to the camera bump, which according to the images, is a thick rectangular array at the top right of the device, resembling the rear cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S20. Given that the last few generations of OnePlus phones have had vertical and central camera strips, this again seems like another strange change.

It’s what’s inside that counts
Apparently, the OnePlus 8T will have the same processor as the OnePlus 8: the Snapdragon 865. This despite the existence of the superior Snapdragon 865 Plus. Given that the OnePlus 7T had the Snapdragon 855 Plus, it seems curious that the company does not go for its 2020 equivalent.
There is some information provided that he did not hit us for a curve ball. It is said to have two storage options, one of which is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and the other is 12GB / 256GB.
Similarly, the camera specs seem spot on. The leak suggests that the phone will have a 48MP main camera, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP portrait camera, with a 32MP selfie camera. That’s a small step up from the OnePlus 8, which had the same first two cameras but no portrait, a 2MP macro, and a 16MP front camera.
Apparently, the battery will be 4,500 mAh, more than 4,300 mAh in the OnePlus 8, with a charging speed of 65 W which is faster than the 30 W of the predecessor.
The OnePlus 8T, by the looks of it, is shaping up to be a minor upgrade, and perhaps not the premium phone with a curved screen that you were hoping for. But that could be worth it if OnePlus plans to position it as a more mid-range equivalent to the OnePlus 8. It’s a strange move, but maybe one that will work in 2020.
