Beijing, Oct 18 (IANS): OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has officially announced that he will be leaving the company after a long period.
In a post posted on the OnePlus forum, Pei noted that he made a “difficult decision” after his association with the company for seven years.
“After almost 7 years at OnePlus, I made the difficult decision to say goodbye. I grew up spending a great deal of time on the internet, creating products and communities. Seeing that the ideas in one’s mind can become lives gave me a lot joy, and I knew from the beginning that this was the path for me, “Pei wrote on Saturday.
Recently, reports of Pei’s departure had appeared in the media ahead of the company’s main launch event for the OnePlus 8T.
Pei co-founded OnePlus with CEO Pete Lau in December 2013. Pei had been instrumental in designing the OnePlus line of smartphones.
The smartphone brand last week launched its new 5G flagship smartphone, the ‘OnePlus 8 T’ with 120Hz AMOLED Fluid display and quad camera setup, in the Indian market.
The OnePlus 8T will be available in two colors, Aqua Green and Moon Silver, at Rs 45,999 (12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage) and Rs 42,999 (8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage).
