The OnePlus Clover sounds like another great move for OnePlus. The company has shown growing interest in more affordable phones, like the recently launched OnePlus Nord. The Clover is an even bigger deal, because it is said to be cheaper priced and will be available in the US.
Currently, most of the information on OnePlus Clover comes from a single source. However, the Clover sounds impressive based on what has been leaked so far, especially since it is rumored to be priced at around $ 200. This includes a giant battery and a triple rear camera setup.

OnePlus Clover release date and availability
According to Android Central, which is the source for many of these pieces of information, Clover will launch later this year. More importantly, this time around there will be availability in the US OnePlus sells its flagship OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro models to US customers, but the mid-range OnePlus Nord is exclusive to Europe and India.
OnePlus Clover price and models
The Clover is apparently surprisingly cheap $ 200, which is half that of the Nord, the cheapest OnePlus phone today. What we do not know if it is only the basic version between a couple of configurations or the only version available.
We only have details of one model for now, which has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. OnePlus often sells its phones with a couple of different memory specs, and the Nord and OnePlus 8 series are available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
OnePlus Clover design
There have been no comments on what the Clover will look like, but let’s make some guesses based on the current OnePlus range.
The front is likely to be a notched display, either a punched hole like current phones that OnePlus sells, or perhaps a waterdrop notch like last year’s OnePlus 7T, if OnePlus doesn’t mind the Clover. look a bit dated.
The back of the OnePlus phones have their cameras arranged in a vertical stack. In the 8 series, they are placed in the center of the back of the phone, but in the Nord they are placed to the left. The Nord is expected to be more of a model for the Clover than the 8 series, so we will predict more left-aligned cameras.
We also heard that the Clover features a 3.5mm headphone jack, something that is a rarity on more expensive phones. This move makes sense, as many buyers under $ 200 may not have upgraded to one of the best wireless headphones yet.
A security fingerprint sensor is rumored to be on the back of the Clover. It’s not as fancy as an under-display sensor, which OnePlus uses on the Nord and 8 series. It’s cheaper to mount on the back, however, which is clearly a high priority for this device.
OnePlus generally offers a smart but limited range of metallic color options, but the Nord bucked that trend with its bright blue marble and gray onyx options. Once again, we’d expect Clover to follow Nord’s lead with some brighter, more vivid colors on offer.
OnePlus Clover display
The Android Central leak says Clover uses a 6.52-inch HD + LCD screen. That’s bigger than the 6.4-inch OLED screen on the OnePlus Nord, but the Nord has a higher FHD + resolution. Additionally, OLED panels generally offer better viewing angles, more vivid colors, and higher black levels than LCDs.
There is no reference to a high refresh rate within the leak. The OnePlus’ Nord and 8 models have 90Hz panels, while the higher-end 8 Pro has a 120Hz display. At this price, we’d be surprised if the Clover didn’t have a 60Hz display.
OnePlus Clover cameras
We can expect a trio of rear cameras on the Clover. Its camera resolutions are 13MP, 2MP and 2MP, but we do not yet know the functions of these sensors. Our guess would be a main sensor, a macro sensor for super close-up photography, and a depth sensor to help with portrait mode effects like bokeh.
We base this on the fact that Nord’s two smaller sensors have these features, even though their depth sensor is 5MP. Don’t expect an ultra-wide or telephoto sensor at these resolutions or the low price of this phone.
As for a selfie camera, we have nothing to go on. OnePlus uses 16MP front cameras on its 8 and 8 Pro flagships, and a main 32MP and 8MP ultrawide combination on the Nord. If we were to guess from these existing sensors, we’d imagine OnePlus would install the smaller 16MP sensor on the Clover, but it may have something else planned that we haven’t seen before.
OnePlus Clover Specifications
At the heart of the Clover, we have a Snapdragon 460 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. That will certainly put the Clover near the bottom of any performance showdown, but it should help keep the price at that low $ 200 figure. 4GB of RAM sounds pretty good for the accompanying chipset, but the 64GB storage is. perhaps too small for an average phone user these days. Fortunately, there is apparently room for a microSD card if you need to expand.
Previously, a Geekbench listing was leaked for a phone called the OnePlus Clover that uses a Snapdragon 660 (or 665) chipset with 4GB of RAM. That would still make Clover less powerful than Nord’s Snapdragon 765 chipset. But it would mean a lot more power than the Android Central leak claims.
OnePlus Nord battery and charging
The most notable spec of the Clover is its 6000 mAh battery, rumored to be. That’s almost 1,500 mAh more than the current largest battery in the OnePlus stable, the 4,510 mAh cell in the OnePlus 8 Pro. Considering that OnePlus phones generally have pretty decent battery life, we expect great things from the Clover. if this is really the size of your power pack.
Less impressive is the 18W charging block that will fill the battery. OnePlus currently includes a 30W charger with the Series 8 and Nord, but presumably that’s too expensive to include with the Clover.
OnePlus Nord software
To no one’s surprise, the operating system for Clover is said to be OxygenOS 10, the operating system that OnePlus uses in the Nord and 8 series, based on Android 10. OnePlus generally updates to the new version of Android quite quickly after its announcement, so expect Clover to use Android 11 for most of its life.
panorama
The OnePlus Clover has the potential to be one of the best phones yet for those on a tight budget, especially with its massive 6,000 mAh battery. It could give phones like the Moto G Power a run for their money on our list of the best phone battery life. The screen size seems generous too, although it is an LCD screen.
If the leaked specs are accurate, you’ll have to make some concessions for this under $ 200 price tag, including the processor and RAM. But we are excited to see how much the OnePlus phone can offer.
At the time of writing, it is unclear whether the rumored OnePlus Nord Lite is a separate phone or not. Either way, OnePlus customers with small budgets, particularly those in the US who missed the Nord, should keep an eye out for more news from Clover in the near future.
