It’s not just the Galaxy S21 + that just had a massive leak. Even though it doesn’t come with how-to videos, the amount of information about the OnePlus 9 5G that has just been dumped onto the internet is perhaps even more comprehensive. It also confirms much of what we’ve seen in the renders that were also based on schematics and leaked information and as expected, the next OnePlus flagship will be a mix of old and new designs, though not all in a good way.
The most striking part of the OnePlus 9 5G’s design is probably its camera bump. For one thing, it seems like just about every camera bumps up these days, taking up more space than it should, especially given the fewer sensors there. On the other hand, it also looks slightly different, with the metal rings surrounding the two larger camera lenses.
From the front, the OnePlus 9 will give a déjà vu feel, looking exactly like the OnePlus 8T. That means you will get a flat screen rather than a curved side. That curved screen will likely be the OnePlus 9 Pro’s identifying mark.
In reality, in almost every other respect, the OnePlus 9 won’t stray that far from the company’s standard designs. The volume rocker is only on the left, while the power button and alert slider are on the right. The SIM tray card is shown with OnePlus’ usual red rubber gasket, although the OnePlus 9 is not expected to have an IP rating. Again, that could be exclusive to the OnePlus 9 Pro.
PhoneArena also got screenshots showing the phone’s specifications, including the 120Hz refresh rate for the 2400 × 1080 FHD + display. There’s also a hint that it would run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which isn’t surprising either, but the site doesn’t trust the camera specs shown, leaving a small piece of the puzzle still missing.
