The OnePlus 8T event on October 14 will be more of a celebration than a reveal – the company has already revealed a lot about the phone. All of that information was out of stock for several weeks, so we’ve compiled it all in one place in case you haven’t followed every daily feed.
The big upgrade will be charging – the Warp Charge 65 will have more than twice the power of the current 30T plug. With a maximum of 65W, this power brick will be able to perform a full charge from 0 to 100% in 39 minutes.
Charging enough to last all day (0-58%) will take 15 minutes. The 8T will have a 4,500 mAh battery, by the way, as big as the current OnePlus 8 Pro. Another interesting detail is that the new charger will have a USB-C port (leaving behind the traditional USB-A) and will support USB Power Delivery of up to 45W.
There will be no OnePlus 8T Pro, however this year we will only get a T update. CEO Pete Lau posted that the 8 Pro is their annual flagship, so its owners won’t feel the need to upgrade after just 6 months.
But the 8T will be a valuable improvement over the 8, in addition to faster charging, it will feature a 120Hz display (down from 90Hz). The screen will retain its 6.55 ”diagonal and 1080p + resolution, so the 8 Pro will still have an advantage (120Hz screen too, but 6.78” in size and with a 1440p + resolution).

The 8T’s new panel has already received an A + rating from DisplayMade and promises an impressive 1,000 nits peak brightness with 8,192 brightness levels. The display will also be very accurate, with a “barely noticeable color difference” of 0.3.
There is not much official information about the camera, but expectations are a 48MP main sensor, 16MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth. In other words, a slight improvement over the Nord camera (which is the same, save for the 8MP ultra-wide module).
The phone will launch with Android 11 out of the box, one of the first phones to do so (the new Pixels are not yet available). The chipset is expected to be a Snapdragon 865+, which will increase CPU and GPU performance by 10%. As for memory, 8/128 GB and 12/256 GB are the likely options.
Official images show a new aqua color for the OnePlus 8T. Compared to the vanilla 8, the T-phone will be slightly thicker (8.4mm vs. 8.0mm) and heavier (188g vs. 180g).
By the way, if you don’t like color, or are just a staunch fan of the classic OnePlus sandstone, there will be a limited edition OnePlus Nord presented during the 8T event.
It is very likely that we will see the OnePlus Buds Z and Buds Wireless Z Bass Edition during that event.
The big question that remains is price – we’ve only heard rumors so far. It is likely higher than the € 700 price of the OnePlus 8 (€ 650 currently) and certainly below the € 900 of the 8 Pro. The rumors we mentioned claimed € 800 for 8/128 GB and € 900 for 12 / 256 GB.
The OnePlus 8T event is scheduled for October 14 at 14:00 UTC.
