OnePlus 8, 8 Pro receive stable OxygenOS 11 update based on Android 11

OnePlus released the beta version of Android 11 for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in June, and after four months, the company is now rolling out the stable version of OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 for its 2020 flagships.

OxygenOS 11 brings a new design and aims to improve the overall experience for users on large screens. Additionally, it comes with an always-on ambient display, five new themes for Zen mode, and a custom time range feature for dark mode.

Here’s the full Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 changelog for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro:

  • System
    • Fresh new visual UI design gives you a more comfortable experience with various detail optimizations.
    • The new weather user interface supports dynamic changes between sunrise and sunset. Now you can have day and night at your fingertips.
    • Optimized stability in some third-party applications and improved user experience.
  • Play space
    • Newly added game toolbox for convenient Fnatic mode switches. Now you can choose three forms of notifications: text only, notice and block, just for your immersive gaming experience.
    • Newly added quick reply feature in a small window for Instagram and WhatsApp. (Enable it by swiping down from the top right / left corners of the screen in game mode)
    • Recently added miscontact prevention feature. Enable it, swipe down from the top of the screen, click and the notification bar will appear.
  • Environmental display
    • Added Ambient Display Always On feature, includes Custom Schedule / All Day option. (To configure: Configuration> Display> Ambient display)
    • Recently added Insight watch style, a joint creation with Parsons School of Design. It will change according to your phone usage data. (To configure: Settings> Personalization> Clock style)
    • 10 new watch styles added. (To configure: Settings> Personalization> Clock style)
  • Dark mode
    • Added hotkey for dark mode, turn down quick settings to enable.
    • Support automatically turn on the function and customize the time range. (To configure: Settings> Display> Dark Mode> Auto Wake> Auto Wake From Dusk to Dawn / Custom Time Range)
  • Zen mode
    • Added 5 new themes (ocean, space, grasslands, etc.) and more time options.
    • Including group feature in Zen mode, you can now invite your friends and enable Zen mode together.
  • Gallery
    • History function supported, automatically forming weekly videos with stored photos and videos.
    • Optimized loading speed and image preview is now faster.
  • Others
    • The desktop widget may disappear. It can be configured as follows: Long press on the desktop – “Widget” – “Settings” – Select the widget.

The OxygenOS 11 update is rolling out over the air to a limited number of users right now, and a broader rollout will begin in a few days if no major bugs are found. And once you get the update, make sure your device has at least 3GB of storage and more than 30% battery before installing.

The OnePlus 8T coming next week will run OxygenOS 11 out of the box, and OnePlus said it will release the update for the OnePlus 6, 6T, 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, and Nord in the future, but did not give any timeline.
