Odion Ighalo says Manchester United fans have yet to see the best of Bruno Fernandes as he took advantage of his previous experience of playing with the Portuguese star.
Fernandes has impressed since coming to England from Sporting Lisbon, and scored three goals in nine appearances for United before the suspension of football.
Unlike Ighalo, his arrival at Old Trafford was expected for several weeks, and the Nigerian joined on the day of the transfer deadline in a surprise loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua.
His arrival saw him bond with Fernandes for the second time, with the pair playing together at Udinese in the 2013/14 season, Fernandes’ first at the club after a change from Novara.
“Bruno is a fantastic player” Ighalo told journalist Juliet Bawuah. “I played for him in 2013/14 at Udinese. We still haven’t seen the best of him in the Premier League.”
“Once Bruno Fernandes settles in England, he will see what that guy can do. He has vision, he always wants the ball. He can shoot, he can score goals, he is very smart.”
“Before the ball comes, he is one step ahead of what he wants to do. In the near future, he will see what he can do in the Premier League, even better than what he is doing now.”
Ighalo is now aiming to win a permanent deal at United as he impressed since his arrival, scoring four goals in eight appearances.
The most recent was a good shot in United’s Europa League win 5-0 at Linz in their last game before football stopped.
“Yes, for now I would say it is the best goal of my career,” he added.
“After that goal, I didn’t know how I scored that goal. My teammates showed me a video and said ‘wow, wow, wow’ and I was like, ‘How did you do that?'”
