Nvidia indicates that the RTX 3080 Founders Edition card will be available again next week.
On Reddit, an Nvidia representative responded to a user desperate to buy the special edition product, which quickly sold out yesterday. “I cannot comment on our partners, but we will have more cards next week,” the Nvidia representative posted on Friday morning. “Users who previously registered for notifications but did not have the opportunity to place an order will receive an email when the store has been updated with additional GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards.”
That’s good news for legions of PC gamers, who couldn’t buy the RTX 3080 on launch day. The Founders Edition card is only sold on Nvidia’s website, but resellers using automated bots managed to buy units earlier than average consumers, making the product nearly impossible to obtain. To buy the card, you’ll need to go to eBay, where merchants sell the $ 699 product for between $ 1,000 and $ 2,000.
The limited supply has enraged PC gamers, who are now criticizing Nvidia for the launch day debacle. “Can’t the world’s leading artificial intelligence company stop shoe robots? You look dumb, ”wrote an angry user on the official Nvidia forums.

Nvidia’s website for the Founders Edition card had also offered to notify interested customers of upcoming sales by email. However, many users who signed up say that the email arrived more than an hour after the sales actually started or never came, rendering the tool completely useless.
It’s unclear how Nvidia will fight the bots next time. But a company representative told users on Nvidia forums that it is considering adding a CAPTCHA test on future orders to help prevent automated bots from making purchases. Meanwhile, Nvidia says it is manually reviewing orders placed on the company’s site yesterday to filter out purchases that came from suspicious bots and resellers.
“As much as I understand people’s frustration, trust me, we don’t want resellers to buy our products,” wrote an Nvidia representative in a post on the company’s forum. “We would prefer that the purchases go to legitimate consumers. During our manual review process, we have proceeded to cancel several suspicious orders. “
We reached out to Nvidia about the Founders Edition card replenishment and will update the story if we hear back.
