Nvidia RTX 30 Series – After so many days of teasing, Nvidia finally revealed its surprise with the announcement of Nvidia 30 Series graphics cards to boost peak performance.

Nvidia 30 series graphics cards have been the talk of the world since they were announced at an event held on Youtube on September 1, 2020. Fans were impressed by the performance of the cards as the superior price / performance ratio reached an unexpected level. So far, here’s what we know about the performance and specs of the 30-series GPUs.

Performance and Specifications List

  • The new RTX GPUs have received second generation ray tracing cores with twice the performance compared to first generation RTX GPUs.
  • Nvidia also boasts of real-time ray tracing in well-known titles as of now. This would help render games with unreal quality. This is mainly due to the new Ampere architecture of the 30 series cards which can boast much better power delivery from the GPU compared to the last generation Turing architecture.
  • The new cards also have a maximum power output limit of 92 watts compared to 88 watts for the last generation. Several cosmetic changes have also been made to the cards to focus on better airflow and cooling capacity.

Insane performance increase compared to 1st Gen RTX GPUs

The highlight of the presentation was the incredible leap in performance you would see from first to second generation GPUs. The cheaper 30-series GPU called the RTX 3070 is said to have slightly higher processing power than the first-gen RTX 2080 Ti GPU at less than half the price.

Some video footage posted by Nvidia of the DOOM Eternal game running on the 3080 showed that 4K 100+ FPS could be easily achieved on the graphics card. The RTX 3090 is said to have almost twice the processing power of an RTX 2080 Ti. The RTX 3090 can also support 8K games with the help of an HDMI 2.1.
