Nomdland and Netflix were the big winners of the Critic Choice Awards

The Netflix platform and the film “Nomadland” was the great winner of the Critics Choice Awards, the latter with four awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay (Chloé Zhao) and Best Cinematography (Joshua James Richards).

Zhao became the first Chinese woman to win both as a director and a screenwriter, the Critics Choice Association (CCA) said in a statement at the end of the 26th edition, which took place on Sunday. “The Supreme Voice of the Blues” won three categories, including Best Actor (for the late Chadwick Boseman), Best Costume, and Best Hair and Makeup. The Best Actress award went to Carey Mulligan for her performance in “Promising Young Woman,” who also won Best Original Screenplay for Emerald Fennell.

The award for best supporting actor went to Daniel Kaluuya for “Judas and the Black Messiah” and the award for Best Supporting Actress to Maria Bakalova for “Borat, the next movie.” On the series, “The Crown” won four categories: Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series (Josh O’Connor), Best Actress in a Drama Series (Emma Corrin), and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Gillian Anderson ). In the comedy genre, “Ted Lasso” won all three categories for which it was nominated: Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Jason Sudeikis), and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Hannah Waddingham ).

“Queens Gambit” won the award for Best Miniseries or TV Movie, and its lead actress, Anya Taylor-Joy, won the award for Best Actress in the same category. The race for “Best Comedy Special”, which was completely dominated by Netflix nominees, resulted in a tie between “Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill” and “Michelle Buteau”: Welcome to Buteaupia. “After leading the nominations Netflix also won the most awards of any studio / channel, with a total of 14. Amazon and Searchlight Pictures each won four.
