Espoo, Finland – Nokia President and CEO Pekka Lundmark signed a joint UN Declaration, UNITED IN BUSINESS FOR A BETTER WORLD, to be presented to the UN Secretary-General as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of The United Nations.
The Declaration, signed by more than 1,000 global CEOs, says that at a time of unprecedented global disruption and transformation, international cooperation must mobilize across borders, sectors and generations. The executive directors who sign the declaration commit to ethical leadership and good governance, to invest in addressing inequalities and injustice, and to partner with the UN, government and civil society to promote equality and respect for the human rights.
Pekka Lundmark, CEO of Nokia said: “The world faces great challenges, such as COVID-19 and climate change, which cannot be solved without global cooperation. Nokia believes in a multilateral system in which companies, governments, organizations and people work together in an inclusive and transparent way to find solutions and build a more sustainable future for people and our planet. I am proud to be a signatory to this declaration of the United Nations Global Compact. Nokia will play its role in ensuring that our technology is designed to solve real social problems and provide greater opportunities for all. ”
