Ethio Lease delivered the medical equipment under a financial lease

Addis Ababa, January 6, 2020 Ethio Lease, Ethiopia’s first privately owned and foreign-owned equipment leasing company, delivered a state-of-the-art CT scanner to Alatyon Hospital as part of its initiative to provide diagnostic equipment to the healthcare sector, a statement from press to Addis Standard said. “Medical imaging is crucial at all important levels of health care. High-quality, safe and effective imaging equipment is important for medical decision-making. “

Ethio Lease has entered into leases for multiple units of high-tech medical imaging equipment with diagnostic and medical centers nationwide. The equipment comes with a full service warranty that includes spare parts and equipment maintenance.

Ethio Lease offerings help alleviate liquidity and foreign exchange shortages that prevent the private sector from playing an important role in the country’s development. The company is also contributing to the modernization of Ethiopia’s agricultural sector by importing and leasing heavy duty farm equipment.

During the award ceremony, Dr. Lia Tadesse, Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, said: “The private sector can play an important role in improving the health sector in the country, and the government in its development plan of 10 years incorporates a deep working relationship with the same sectors “.

Speaking about the foreign exchange challenges required in importing high-tech medical equipment, Dr. Lia recognized the important role that Ethio’s leasing plays in the country. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ethio Lease for the role it is playing in Ethiopia and for the work it has done so far,” he added.

In his remarks, Ethio Lease CEO Ato Girum Tsegaye said: “The global COVID 19 pandemic that is ravaging countries around the world has called for a stronger medical sector. In countries like Ethiopia, capital and currencies are a major challenge for which Ethio Lease has provided a complete financial solution. Today’s delivery of this state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment is a demonstration of our continued commitment to supporting government and the private sector. Ethio Lease will continue to support the government’s effort to promote the development of the medical sector, as long as it continues to receive the necessary facilitation and support from the respective government agencies ”.

Ethio Lease, a subsidiary of Africa Asset Finance Company Inc. (AAFC), began operations in August 2019 after receiving a license from the National Bank of Ethiopia, the first of its kind, and continues to address equipment shortages and change currency (FX) challenges faced in Ethiopia, providing bespoke equipment financing and a wide range of leasing services for select equipment categories, serving various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, energy, food processing and coffee and manufacture.

Ethio Lease purchases and imports equipment, arranges for regular maintenance, and monitors proper use during the lease period. To date, the company has signed leases with more than 100 clients for more than 200 units of equipment of various types, worth more than 900 million ETB. Shipping
