New Zealand’s parliament passed legislation giving mothers and their partners the right to paid leave after a miscarriage or stillbirth, making it the second country in the world to do so.
The bereavement allowance, approved unanimously in parliament late Wednesday, gives employees three days of leave when a pregnancy ends with a stillbirth without having to resort to sick leave.
