Will Smith has shared our first look at the next The prince of Bel Air 30th anniversary special reunion. It was recently revealed that HBO Max is gearing up to reunite the cast of the beloved series for an unscripted reunion special that reviews the show three decades later. These photos were taken on the 30th anniversary of the show’s premiere.
Will Smith shared two behind-the-scenes photos from the Bel-Air reunion special on Instagram. The 51-year-old star was joined by former co-stars Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Joseph Marcel (Geoffrey) l, Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv), and Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), as well as co-recurring . -star DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz). The first photo was taken at the Banks’ home, which looks in every way like the one fans will remember from the show. Smith said this in the caption provided.
“Today is exactly 30 years since The FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we’re doing something for all of you … a real Banks family reunion is coming to HBO Max soon! RIP James. # FreshPrince30th”
In the caption provided with the photos, Will Smith pays tribute to the late James Avery, who passed away in 2013. Avery played Uncle Phil on the original show. Surprisingly, a second photo was shared showing Smith talking to Janet Hubert. Smith revealed that he sat down with the actress, who originated the role of Aunt Viv, for the first time in 27 years. They are said to have had an “emotional meeting and a heartfelt conversation.” Hubert played the role for the first three seasons of the show before being replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid. Hubert previously shared harsh words for both the show and Smith. So the fact that he joins the special is significant.
The Fresh Prince 30th anniversary special was recently announced by HBO Max. The streaming service says it will be “a fun and heartfelt evening filled with music, dancing and more special surprise guests.” Impressively, they managed to shoot it at a time when getting any kind of production going is difficult. The prince of Bel Air helped make Smith the star he is today. It ran for six seasons from 1990 to 1996 and 148 episodes. It’s produced by Smith’s company, Westbrook Media, and is scheduled to arrive sometime around Thanksgiving, though a specific date has yet to be set.
Meanwhile, the public will get a new version of the classic. Will Smith is currently producing a reboot of the show with filmmaker Morgan Cooper. It’s based on Cooper’s viral video, which imagines a stark, dramatic version of The prince of Bel Air, titled simply “Bel-Air”, set in modern times. Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, recently delivered an impressive two-season order directly to the series for the show. We’ll make sure to keep you posted as more details on the reboot or the reunion special become available. In the meantime, be sure to check out Will Smith’s Instagram photos.
