On Thursday, 2K revealed its extensive plans for the WNBA experience in the next-gen version of NBA 2K21. Those plans included a fully developed franchise mode called MyWNBA.
It does not appear to have any notable shortcomings and should give fans interested in running their own WNBA all the tools they need. We haven’t heard all the details about MyLeague and MyGM yet, and that could be because neither mode will exist in the future. Before hardcore modes fans break a meeting, I think there is good news on this front.
In a recent game video that featured senior developers and producers Erick Boenisch and Mike Wang, the former mentioned a mode called “MyNBA.” Listen, the NBA 2K Reddit Twitter account pointed this out:
Boenisch says, “We have so much more to show you. We have WNBA candidates on the way, W, MyNBA and more in the mode formerly known as The Neighborhood. “
Pause … MyNBA? That is new.
If you consider that the WNBA franchise mode is called MyWNBA, it stands to reason that the new brand for the NBA franchise mode is MyNBA.
MyLeague and MyGM can be combined into a single mode with unmatched customization that lets you experience the NBA the way you want. The WNBA article had another clue. He says he can “activate role-play elements to experience the WNBA from a DJ’s perspective.”
Assuming the same functionality is in the still confirmed MyNBA, I would change MyGM from a separate feature to a number of customization options in the new mode. As long as the classic MyGM options are still available within this concept, it sounds like a streamlined move that will make all fans of the mode happy.
As far as MyLeague is concerned, all of the concepts that you’ve had for years seem set to stay, including MyLeague Online, but you have to think that some customization aspects will be added that didn’t exist in the past. .
Hope is high that this new functionality has to do with expanding the options associated with customizing the arena and creating a player. Those two areas need some improvement as there are many concepts of individuality that cannot be assigned to CAPs in these modes, such as tattoos, a wide variety of hairstyles, hair color, body types, and face sculpting options.
Based on everything we learned about MyWNBA, there is a legitimate reason to be excited about MyNBA. Expect to see some details on this next week along with the introduction of the mode formerly known as The Neighborhood.
Other than that, the only other things left to discover are the changes to MyTeam, Play Now Online, Blacktop, and any new modes that may be added exclusively to the next generation.
