Rumors about the next model of Apple’s fan-favorite compact smartphone are already in full force, although it could be more than a year before we see one.
Analyst Ross Young published in Twitter on April 1 (grain of salt etc) that the next iPhone SE will arrive in 2022 with the same 4.7-inch form factor as the current SE. This renewed modelYoung wrote, it could come equipped with the sub-65G GHz variation instead of support for all bands, included ultrafast millimeter wave spectrum. Young also mentioned hearing of a 6.1-inch model with a “drilled hole instead of a notch” that could launch in 2023.
Some of this matches an earlier report from trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last month. Quoting a Kuo supply chain report, 9to5Mac reported that Kuo also expects 5G connectivity to arrive on a 2022 model of the iPhone SE. Kuo also said that he expects a 2022 model to have a 4.7-inch design, but with an improved processor.
What’s most interesting about these rumors is that Apple might be planning to ditch the SE form factor for a larger screen. It’s unclear if the SE will sport the same body size with slimmer bezels, or if Apple will size the SE (the latter would be bad news for us small-handed).
Given that we’re seemingly over a year away from getting a newer iPhone SE, reportedly having a new release projected for 2022, there’s still plenty of time for SE rumors to generate buzz around a newer device and more. powerful. But it seems interesting.
