The four astronauts outside the SpaceX capsule that docked at the International Space Station on Monday took advantage of the ‘force’ by taking a stuffed toy of the Baby Yoda character with them. Since then, images of the doll have been widely shared on the internet and many have reacted to the ‘honorary astronaut’ on social media.

The doll of the character from The Mandalorian series could be seen floating freely inside the Crew Dragon during the trip to the space station. The plush toy was part of NASA’s commercial crew’s first operational mission as an indicator of zero-gravity conditions, so it was not tied down, reported the USA Today.

The Baby Yoda doll is not the first doll of its kind to travel into space. Previous dolls include a blue and pink sequined dinosaur named ‘Tremor’ in the SpaceX Crew Dragon mission in May and a stuffed Earth toy in an unmanned Crew Dragon test in March 2019. The dolls have always served as indicators of zero gravity conditions.
