The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which is actively pursuing the drug nexus, whether in the Sushant Singh Rajput case or other drug trafficking and supplies across the country, has arrested a cocaine trafficking syndicate from high profile operating from Mumbai.

NCB’s official Twitter identifier stated: “An investigation that began with the cocaine seizure in Delhi led to the arrest of a drug dealer in Mumbai.” NCB also said it intercepted a package containing drugs arriving from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Hours later, NCB released another breakthrough of the arrest of 17 people allegedly related to the massive 2,795 kilograms of cannabis seized at different locations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. “In one of the operations, the contraband was concealed in a tanker,” NCB said on Twitter.

“An intensive operation was carried out to control cannabis trafficking and a total of 2,795 kilograms of the drug were seized,” the deputy director (operations) of the Office of Narcotics Control, KPS Malhotra, said on Friday in relation to the seizure.

The case that was first investigated by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on the financial angle and the CBI investigating the mysterious death of Sushant Singh, has also involved the NCB after the ED revealed drug use related to the death of the actor and the first defendant Rhea. Chakraborty.

Shortly after, the NCB team questioned several people, including the main defendant in the case of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik. Rhea, who previously denied using any drugs, admitted on Saturday to using drugs. She had previously stated that she used to get medications for Sushant but never took them. It was only after NCB made her realize that buying and selling drugs is a more serious crime than self-use. She even admitted that her team instructed her not to reveal anything about it, however NCB sources said that she also revealed names of prominent actors.

Additionally, NCB is now investigating Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s complaint regarding the video from the 2019 Bollywood party and the team is now submitting the video to the forensic lab to verify its authenticity.
