NASA’s spirit of power is inspiring and brings hope to the United States during this pandemic. I cannot be more proud of our agency’s response to this unprecedented health emergency. The many selfless and compassionate efforts of our team to help our nation meet the challenges of the coronavirus are extraordinary.

  • Top News: Last week, I had the honor of inform President Trump All the surprising and innovative ways that our agency is helping to combat coronavirus. It is truly remarkable what a dedicated team of scientists and engineers can bring, even when they work from home.
  • Next: This week I am pleased to provide an update on the agency’s Artemis program, including the announcement of selected companies to develop a human landing system. This Thursday, April 30 at 1 p.m. EDT, NASA Television will convey a message from senior leadership and me about how human exploration of the Moon will prepare the agency for missions to Mars.
  • Shout Out: NASA interns are a special part of our agency team, and this year’s spring interns have played an integral role during this challenging time. Although the pandemic interrupted many of their internships at the site, more than 500 interns continued to assist us via telework. Your commitment to our mission is inspiring. Tomorrow, April 28, NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy will perform a special downlink from the International Space Station for our interns. The broadcast will air on NASA television at 12:05 p.m. EDT.
Our agency has endless opportunities to inspire and bring hope to a world in crisis. NASA astronauts Chris Cassidy, Andrew Morgan and Jessica Meir filmed a segment on the space station that appeared last week in John Krasinski’s YouTube series, “Some Good News.” Millions watched this video below (link here), not because they haven’t seen astronauts in space before, but because astronauts in space remind humanity of the amazing things we are capable of.

Ad Astra,

Jim Bridenstine
