Microsoft introduced support for Android apps on Your Phone in August. Now the company is implementing a feature where users can run multiple applications simultaneously.
As reported on the official website (via Android Police), the new feature allows multiple Android apps to run simultaneously. However, it is currently only available for some Samsung devices. For PC, the feature is currently available to the Windows Insider community found in the Developer, Beta, or Release Preview channels. The list of Samsung devices with “Link to Windows integration” that support multi-app streaming functions is as follows:
The update also extends to devices running One UI 3.0 beta currently based on Android 11 as follows:
Therefore, streaming multiple applications requires Windows Update May 2020 or later. And a minimum of Android 10. Also, to enable it, make sure you have the following applications updated to the following versions:
- Your phone on PC 1.20102.132.0 or higher.
- Companion app for your phone 1.20102.133.0 or higher.
- Link to Windows service version 2.1.05.2 or later. You can update this here. If you are not registered for the beta version, you can also request it.
That being said, Microsoft says this is an early preview and therefore it will be rolled out gradually for all users. In addition, the update has limitations such as sound synchronization between PC and mobile, mouse input not recognized by applications and more. You can take a look at them below:
What is Microsoft Your Phone?
For those of you who don’t know, Microsoft’s Your Phone is the company’s solution for connecting smartphones to the Windows platform. Users running Windows 10 can download the Your Phone app from the Microsoft Store. And use it to access media, messages, calls, and now multiple apps too. Earlier in the initial update for application support, Microsoft explained how the feature works.
According to the official publication, a Wi-Fi connection between the PC and the mobile will allow the applications to be transmitted on the PC through your phone. Users can browse, play games, order food, chat, and do much more on the PC screen. In addition, users can also add the applications to Favorites, pin them to the Start menu and the taskbar. And use them together with other applications on your PC.
