With AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series now officially on the way, motherboard manufacturers are planning their BIOS updates for older motherboards. In the case of MSI, we have good news, as the company has announced that all of its 400 series motherboards will be compatible with the latest processors from AMD.
Not all motherboard manufacturers will include backward compatibility for Ryzen 5000 in their 400 series motherboards. MSI will not go that route, however.
“In response to the anticipation of our users, MSI announces that all 400 series motherboards, including X470 and B450 products, MAX or non-MAX, will provide BIOS updates later that will support Ryzen 5000 processors,” said MSI.
MSI also adds that the evaluation is currently in progress and we can look forward to a more detailed BIOS release program after AMD provides the code.
KitGuru says: It’s great to see MSI commit to backing their previous generation boards. Are any of you planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 5000 series CPU soon? Will you stick to an older motherboard or will you take a new one?
