Mohamed Salah showed his quality against Crystal Palace, coming off the bench and scoring a couple of goals. There is nothing better from a forward’s point of view.
You have to trust the coach and Jurgen Klopp knows what he is doing. Takumi Minamino had his chance instead and that helped him, he achieved his goal, and that’s a huge advantage.
He’s a good player, he just needed a little confidence. That’s it. Hopefully the goal drives him. He was unlucky with the goal that was struck out against Midtjylland the other week. You can see the delight on his face.
But Salah is a class act and they were class goals. He’s hungry for goals, he’s hungry for the Golden Boot, that goes without saying, although he will need forty goals to win at this rate if Manchester United keep winning all these penalties!
If you are a player of the quality of Salah, you will always be linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and other similar agreements. Harry Kane will be next when Tottenham walk away. That’s the way it is.
Sadio Mane is also talked about. We are talking about one of the best strikers in the world. Mane, Salah, they will always be linked to Real Madrid.
Personally, I think that after the experience of the Champions League final and the way Ramos treated him, if it had been me, I would have hated Real Madrid, after that incident. It wouldn’t appeal to me, but I wouldn’t want to leave Liverpool either.
It’s up to Jurgen Klopp and what he wants. You have to trust the manager to deal with those situations when they arise in the right way. The players are so strong now that if they want to go, they will. End of story.
But Liverpool have the best three forwards in the world, that goes without saying. Tottenham have three fantastic forwards and there are other clubs too, but you wouldn’t trade Salah, Mane or Firmino for anyone.
Fantastic Firmino finds his mojo
Bobby Firmino has got his mojo back. The last 18 months or so he hasn’t been himself, but the last two performances of him, whatever happened between him and Jurgen and if you’ve had a chat with him or whatever, it’s been excellent.
He was brilliant against Tottenham and he was brilliant again against Palace. The shot was absolutely magnificent for the two goals he scored. He started the play for his first goal and the finish was sublime and his second finish was charming.
It was a bit like Kenny Dalglish in the 1978 European Cup final against Brugge with the little dink. They always told us to do that when I joined Liverpool. Kenny told us that when you are face to face with the goalie, bathe him because he is always going to go to the ground and he will stretch, but if you put him, he will never save him.
I scored a pair for Liverpool that way and it was a brilliant shot from Firmino. It was super.
Suddenly, he looks like the player we had two seasons ago again, so it’s great to have him. If his form continues like this until the end of the season and Bobby can maintain it, he will go hugely towards victory in the Premier League.
No problem with sulky Sadio
Sound Mane needed a goal because his performances have deserved goals, so it was great to see him enter the roster.
He does my makeup when players don’t want to go out, he used to do it all the time. I never wanted to go out, especially for Ireland. Jack Charlton always used to give me 15 minutes to play a lot of games and I used to hate him and try a bit on Jack.

That will have been the only reason and it was great to see his reaction because he is hungry for goals. Lately he has not scored and has recovered his first goal, that’s all.
I wanted more and I have no problem with that.
