MIDROC Ethiopia and Alkhorayef Industries – New Business Ethiopia inks association agreement

Mohammed International Development Research and Organization Companies (MIDROC) Ethio-Saudi magnate Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al-Amoudi’s investment group signed a partnership agreement with Saudi Arabia-based Alkhorayef Industries Company to boost Ethiopia’s agricultural sector with center pivot irrigation technology.

The partnership will enable Alkhorayef Industries to supply irrigation technologies worth one billion Ethiopian Birr. MIDROC will use the irrigation systems for its farms, which has been exporting vegetables and strawberries to Saudi Arabia, among others.

Briefing journalists in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this afternoon the CEO of the investment group MIDROC, Mr. Jemal Ahmed, stated that the agreement is crucial to increase our productivity and reduce costs. “It will allow us to produce three times a year by freeing ourselves from the rain,” said Jamal.

Alkhorayef Industries Company Vice President for Africa, Khaled A. Shalabi, stated that the agreement will help Alkhorayef work cooperatively and design the irrigation system, supply the necessary technology and assist the irrigation system. In addition to fruits and vegetables, the MIDROC agricultural wing in Ethiopia has also engaged in coffee, tea, cut flower, oilseed, cotton honey and spice farms.
