If you’re looking to jump into new horror games in early 2021, you’ll want to keep your eyes on it. The medium. Coming from the Bloober team (Layers of fear, watcher, Blair witch), This third-person mystery game sees players taking control of the main character who can contact entities in the afterlife, and even travel there herself. You can get a taste of what that out-of-body experience is like thanks to a 14-minute trailer for the game that the developers just revealed. It’s a little spoilers, so if you’d rather go cold, you’ve been warned.

This first look at the gameplay of The medium it certainly sets the atmosphere. For a while, you will be wandering through a haunted hotel, as our protagonist says, but you are not trapped in the material world at all. Your spiritual self will be able to cross and traverse the spectral path to solve puzzles, connect paths, and do things that your physical self simply cannot. But hurry; the longer it remains outside the body, the greater the risk of staying that way permanently. And you could unleash something that should have been buried.

It’s a great joke of the mechanics that will surely do The medium a unique (and spooky) experience when it comes to Xbox Series X | S and PC this January 28. You can visit the game site and reserve it now if you are interested. Here is the official synopsis:

Discover a dark mystery that only a medium can solve. Explore the real world and the spirit world at the same time. Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles that span both worlds, discover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw, a monster born of unspeakable tragedy.
