Microsoft May Release Smaller 12.5-Inch Surface Laptop Soon

(Pocket-lint): Microsoft could announce a smaller Surface Laptop before the holidays, according to Windows Central.

Microsoft is reportedly preparing a lighter Surface Laptop with a 12.5-inch screen. It is expected to feature the 10th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Microsoft is reportedly hoping to attract students with a smaller Surface Laptop, offering the Windows 10 machine in S mode and priced between $ 500 and $ 600. That would make it one of the more affordable products in the Surface lineup.

Students interested in improved RAM and storage options will probably be able to customize their laptop at checkout. The company is rumored to be preparing a virtual Surface event or announcement of some kind for next month to launch this new Surface Laptop, as well as other hardware updates.

Microsoft currently offers six different devices within its Surface portfolio: Surface Pro, Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop, Surface Book, Surface Studio, and Surface Go 2.
