Microsoft has issued a statement to IGN saying that it is investigating the problem and working on a solution. See the full statement below:
“At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing and are committed to providing customers with an unparalleled gaming experience. We are aware that some gamers may be unresponsive with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a fix. For the best experience, we encourage customers to visit Xbox Support for assistance. “
Users are starting to share their experiences with faulty drivers online. One player tells The Loadout that the “Y” button is the one that mostly malfunctions for them.
It’s unclear what the cause of the problem is, and until Microsoft announces an official fix, it’s hard to say what workarounds are available to gamers.
Xbox controller is the latest console hardware to face problems. The Nintendo Switch has a long history of faulty Joy-Cons, with issues ranging from controllers disconnecting to drifting, where the reticle will start to move on its own without player intervention.
More recently, the PlayStation 5 DualSense has also been found to experience drift cases. You can check out everything we know about DualSense drift here.
