As a successful 2020 wraps up for Zoom, the beloved video conferencing favorite, the company is taking the momentous mindset it amassed over the year and looking to leverage it for two potential new services in email and calendar offerings.

According to a report from Information, Zoom has been tweaking an email service that could be ready to launch next year, in addition to a calendar service at some point later. There is little detail at this point regarding the specifics of Zoom-led solutions, but a shift to deeper collaborative business options makes the simplest sense for both its users and its investors.

With potential light at the end of the pandemic tunnel as vaccines make their way to parts of the world, requests for shelter-in-place, work-from-home, and remote will eventually relax and that could leave the now-prominent video conferencing giant in search of of a life raft as in-person meetings resume.

While on paper, news that Zoom is crafting its own email and calendar solutions could momentarily boost its stock assessment, there will be serious concerns about the extent to which the company can leverage its current popularity in video conferencing during a global quarantine to encourage its users to switch from industry titans Microsoft and Google. Another potential outlier that Zoom should consider is that in its efforts to expand its adoption, the company has possibly facilitated the current integration of its use with what would be its competition.

Zoom was contacted for comment, but they declined at the time. There is no formal or official news on email and calendar solutions coming from the company, but Zoon will definitely continue to be a company on Microsoft’s radar in 2021.
