The first free Marvel’s Avengers DLC character will be Kate Bishop, Clint Barton’s purple-clad protégé.
Square Enix revealed their plans for Kate Bishop in their final pre-launch presentation for Avengers War Table. She will join the cast with the first expansion in post-release Avengers story, Operation Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM. The new Operation will follow directly after the events of the base game’s Avengers Assemble campaign, and Bishop’s story will also tie into Operation Marvel’s Avengers: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect (which will add Clint Barton to the game).
A trailer for Taking AIM shows Bishop’s complicated relationship with the Avengers and a new villain. He also sets up an apparent betrayal of his closest ally. Square Enix sees the two Hawkeyes’ operations as a “double feature,” so expect their stories to intertwine.

While Kate Bishop and Clint Barton are to be expected to fight in much the same way, both are archers practicing martial arts and firing tricks, the trailer briefly shows what a new superpower looks like for Bishop. She disappears into a crackling violet energy field and then reappears behind a group of enemies, using her new position to splash their unprotected backs with arrows.
You may have chosen a cool new gadget, or maybe this particular version of Kate Bishop’s Marvel universe was caught up in the same A-day catastrophe that gave Ms. Marvel her powers. We probably won’t have to wait long to find out, although Square Enix hasn’t specifically said when we can expect Taking AIM to go live.
The Marvel’s Avengers beta was played by 6 million people for a total of more than 27 million hours.
