It’s #ACityUnited again, but this time it’s not for a good cause, but to condemn the behavior of two of its stars, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood.
Both Greenwood and Foden met women at a hotel in Iceland when they both should have been social distancing and staying in a bubble.
As a result, they have remained separate from the rest of the England team and will not play for the team in their next game against Denmark.
👀 Foden & Greenwood Left England Team After Breaking COVID-19 Guidelines
The Red Devils said in a statement to the Manchester Evening News: “Manchester United is collaborating with the Football Association and they are disappointed with Mason Greenwood’s actions on this situation.”
City said in its own statement: “It is clear that Phil’s actions were totally inappropriate.
“His behavior not only directly contravenes the strict guidelines related to Covid-19, but it is also well below the standard expected of a Manchester City player and an England international.
“The club supports the FA regarding this incident, and club officials are now in contact regarding Phil’s early forced return to the UK.
“We have no further comment to make on this matter.”
Phil Foden has issued an apology for his behavior, but Greenwood has yet to comment.
There, FA and the Icelandic police are said to be investigating the matter further.
