The Eifel Grand Prix did not get off to a good start as both sessions on Friday were canceled due to bad weather. While waiting for the session to begin, Mick Schumacher decided to pay a visit to the Ferrari garage. Sebastian Vettel, who will lead the design of Michael Schumacher’s helmet this weekend, took the opportunity to show the design to Schumacher Jr.
Previously, Vettel as a tribute to his childhood hero Michael revealed that he will race in the seven-time world champion’s helmet design over the weekend at the Nürburgring.
Mick, who took a walk through the Ferrari garage, ended up chatting with his compatriot. In the video, Vettel can be seen showing Mick his helmet design. And they both even had a long talk about the helmet. In addition to speaking with Vettel, the F2 driver also spoke with Vettel’s father, Norbert Vettel.
But overall, Mick could cherish this moment with the four-time world champion as one of the proudest moments of his career.
Mick Schumacher waiting for another practice session
Mick Schumacher had a pretty disappointing day at the office. He would have arrived this weekend with high hopes of participating in an F1 session for the first time. But, sadly, bad weather meant that he didn’t even leave the pit lane in the end.
While talking to Formula 1, he talks about his time with the team on Friday. “Obviously I would have loved to be able to go out and drive”Says Mick. “However, I think it’s great to be here, to have the opportunity to talk to the team, go to meetings and work with the mechanics, work with the engineers. And obviously, also see the fans.. “
“I’m also very sorry for the fans, who can’t see us driving. In the end, safety comes first. “
But Mick also mentions that his time with the engineers in the garage was still helpful in developing as a pilot. “[It’s] very useful for me. I managed to get all the experience I could from this weekend. And that was really the focus for me”Says Mick.
The F2 driver reveals that he is not sure about having another session with the team in the future. “We don’t know what the future holds, ”he says. “But hopefully I’ll be able to drive a few laps again.. “
Mick may have missed this incredible opportunity to participate in an F1 session. But his possible move to Alfa Romeo as a full-time driver next season means he will still have another chance later this season.
