NEW DELHI: Jaguar Land Rover has revised the Defender’s trim line, introducing a new edition alongside a V8 engine.
The new Carpathian Edition combines the power and capability of the Defender V8 with a unique combination of design elements. The XS Edition replaces the First Edition, sits above the SE models and features rugged exterior styling enhancements.
Defender 90 Hard Top priced at £ 35,360 OTR (plus VAT), 90 body style from £ 44,825 and 110 from £ 46,215 OTR in the UK.

Inside, the Defender V8 features exclusive Windsor Ebony leather trim seats with Miko Suedecloth and Robustec accents, each finished with a unique Ebony label, while the Defender’s Cross Car Beam has a special Satin Black finish. The four-spoke steering wheel is enhanced by an Alcantara rim and satin chrome tactile shift paddles, which are exclusive to V8 models. Leather covers the airbag shell and gear lever, while the illuminated running boards are completed with a V8 lettering.
The new Defender V8 Carpathian Edition is finished in Carpathian Gray, distinguished by a contrasting Narvik Black hood and roof. Additional visuals include V8 Carpathian Edition custom badge finishes, satin black towing eyes and distinctive xenon blue brake calipers.
The Defender V8 builds on the class-leading capability of the rugged 4×4, offering new levels of performance and driver engagement by combining a powerful 525hp 5.0-liter V8 supercharged petrol engine with suspension and transmission tuning. Developed by experts to create the fastest and most dynamically rewarding Defender.

Externally, the XS Edition is identified by its body-colored underlayment and lower wheel arches, and distinctive 20-inch diamond-finished alloy wheels in contrast to Satin Gray finish. A selection of four exterior color options is available: Silicon Silver, Hakuba Silver, Gondwana Stone, and Santorini Black.
Inside, the XS Edition’s 12-way heated, memory seats are finished in grained leather, while the Cross Car Beam is finished in brushed light gray powder paint. Illuminated metal running boards complete the interior.
The comprehensive standard specification includes electronic air suspension, adaptive dynamics and configurable terrain response. Additionally, the XS Edition benefits from Matrix LED headlights with distinctive daytime running lights, ClearSight rearview mirror technology, and the next-generation Pivi Pro infotainment system with Meridian 10-speaker sound system.
The XS Edition is available with a selection of powerful and efficient powertrains, including the P400 Gasoline Diesel, the P400e Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and the D250 Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV).

New for model year 2022, the Defender is available with wireless device charging, which features a signal booster for optimized network reception and Wi-Fi signal.
Connectivity is also enhanced by the latest evolution of Pivi Pro infotainment, available with an optional larger 11.4-inch touchscreen for the first time. The new curved glass interface is 60% larger than the standard screen, making it even easier to follow the breadcrumbs.
