Konrad de la Fuente has a shot at Barcelona with Ronald Koeman now that Ansu Fati is out of action for four months after knee surgery.
The 19-year-old American has yet to make his first-team debut in a competitive game, but he appeared in the preseason and looked pretty good in his two appearances.
Konrad has already been included in several teams of the day this season, which certainly suggests that he is on Koeman’s thinking for the future.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Koeman is “delighted” with Konrad and could give the youngster more opportunities now that Fati is out of the game.
The report also talks about his “spectacular” progression through Barca’s ranks, noting how Koeman singled out Konrad for praise after the preseason win over Girona.
“We know we have very good young players here. The important thing is to be involved in training at a good level and then bring that to these friendly matches. If I had to highlight one of the young people, Konrad would say, I am very happy with him. But we also have Pedri, Riqui. We have a great future ahead of us. “
Konrad is right-handed but likes to play on the left wing, which makes him a strong candidate when it comes to finding a replacement for Fati.
There are plenty of other options, of course, for Koeman, but Fati will be out for a long time, suggesting that Konrad will finally get a shot at the first team sooner or later.
