The steady increase in infections in Kenya has prompted calls from a section of leaders to urge the government to impose a blockade during the end of the year holidays.
Local media reports that last week the Board of Governors asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to curb travel during the season to halt the spread of the disease by citizens who plan to visit family and friends in rural areas.
Government-imposed measures that are currently active include a nationwide night curfew, a ban on large gatherings, and the partial closure of learning institutions.
