JRPG ‘Fantasian’ is now available on Apple Arcade

Fantasy, the latest JRPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, launched on Apple Arcade today (April 2).

The release is the first of two parts, with the second half of the game later this year, as Siliconera reports.

Fantasy is the latest release from Sakaguchi’s Mistwalker studio, which he founded in 2004 after leaving Square Enix.

Fantasy is a traditional JRPG influenced by the Final Fantasy titles that Sakaguchi created, directed and supervised during his employment at Square (now Square Enix).

The game features an amnesiac hero named Leo, random turn-based battles, and celebrity music Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Most notably, the game’s environments, while resembling the pre-rendered backgrounds of Final Fantasy titles of the PS1 generation, actually consist of more than 150 handcrafted dioramas.

In an interview with VGC, Sakaguchi has said that Fantasy it may be your last game. Uematsu has also said that he thinks Fantasy it could be the last video game soundtrack you’ll ever create.

Elsewhere, Final Fantasy XIV will have an open beta on PS5 this month.

Square Enix had also previously announced that two Final Fantasy VII games are coming to mobile devices. However, the mobile reboot of Final Fantasy XI It has been canceled.
