American politics is made up of acronyms: we’ve seen POTUS, FLOTUS, and even SCOTUS.

Now get ready for DOTUS, as President-elect Joe Biden’s pet dogs Major and Champ all have an official Twitter account of their own.

Biden set up the social media profile with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, for his two German Shepherds, who can now be found tweeting from the username @First_Dogs_USA.

Political Pups Bio Reads: “We Are America’s First Dogs, Champ and Major Biden. You can call us #DOTUS.

“We love nom noms, snuggles, and we can’t wait to explore the White House.”

And the smart guys have already started to gain a following on social media, amassing an impressive 106,700 followers in less than 24 hours.

Dogs (or rather, whoever is running the Twitter page for them) are no strangers to adding some cheesy puns and goofy selfies, with one tweet saying, “We can’t wait until Inpawguration Day! Especially Major, because you haven’t. ” I’ve still been in the White House. So it will be my responsibility to show you around, as I know the best places and where to get treats from. Wow!

Unfortunately, the White House has been dog-free since Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2016.

Former head of state Barack Obama had two Portuguese water dogs, named Sunny and Bo, when he was in office.

And President-elect Biden is marking the first time with his beloved doggos, with the youngest puppy Major being the first rescue dog to move into the White House when Biden is inaugurated in January of next year.

Champ has been part of the Biden tribe since 2008, while Major joined the family in 2018.

The Bidens decided to foster Major after his daughter introduced him as part of a litter of puppies, and originally only promised to give him a temporary home.

But it wasn’t long before the doggo became a firm member of the family, and little Major was given a home for life.
