Jamie Carragher has explained what Thiago Alcantara will bring to Liverpool from Bayern Munich.
The Spanish international is about to join the Reds from the Bundesliga champions as he contemplates a new challenge.
He had spent seven trophy-laden years in Bavaria, and the most recent season ended with a treble, including the Champions League.
But with his contract expiring next summer, Thiago told Bayern bosses that he would not sign a new contract.

“Thiago would be something different, less in energy but more technical, and I think he would be a very good addition.
“Liverpool are world class at the top end of the field, world class in terms of defense and goalkeeper, I think they are first class in the midfield.
“Technically something could be added and Thiago fits the bill so keep your fingers crossed and he’s coming.”
Meanwhile, Bayern boss Uli Hoeness expressed his contempt for Liverpool and Manchester United for their negotiation tactics in the transfer window.
Speaking to Sport1, Hoeness said: “It’s a difficult situation. Some time ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. A few days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge.” Which is totally fine.
“I think he obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both. Now both clubs are bragging and nobody has officially contacted Bayern Munich.”
